Great Britain got yet another exciting talent. Singer-songwriter Kadija Kamara is blessed with an expressive and rich but also smooth and sensuous voice. While Kadija’s music is mainly soul oriented, it also embraces elements from world music, jazz, folk and rock. The resulting potpourri can best be described as alternative pop which resembles Janelle Monáe’s very natural jaunty acoustic sound that recently opened new horizons for chart-compliant r&b, as the majority of r&b acts walked into the eurodance trap.
Kadija started as a backing vocalist and feature singer. To this day, she’s collaborated with a handful of great producers within the underground dance music scene, including Joey Negro, Mark de Clive-Lowe and Zed Bias. In order to be able to put her creative potential into practice, she decided to start her solo project in 2005. After a myriad of live performances, Kadija finally released her self-composed debut EP ‘Changes’ in 2011.
Her first music video ‘Talking 2 Myself’’ is taken from this EP. It’s a driving, energetic song with a touch of vintage 60s/70s pop feel. Her stunning vocals, impelling drumming, a great bass/guitar groove and the catchy hook make this one a sure shot! The single will be released soon via Kadija Kamara Music including remixes by Zed Bias and others. Check out the hilarious video that was shot in sunny London:
